In this workshop with local multimedia artist Sabrina Sims, we'll be making quirky art zines in the amazing Electric Zine Maker program. This "print shop and art tool," as its creator Nathalie Lawhead describes it, lets anyone make zines using inventive templates and glitchy image manipulation. Sabrina will guide participants through the basics of EZM, how to plan out a zine using prompts and tips for self publishing after we're done.
The EZM site should come with a seizure warning. CARDS will provide live captioning via Verbit.
Sabrina Sims (she/her) is a Black Puerto Rican femme and chronically ill multimedia artist from the Bronx. Her ever-shifting interests include themes and motifs including space, magical Black femme-ness and reiterating ideas. She currently works in mediums like zines, riso printmaking, collage, photography and music. Her first collab zine space for Black hair, is a celestial exploration about Black hair for the diaspora. You can check out her portfolio and shop at starlyart.studio and find her on Instagram @starlyartstudio and Twitter @starlybri !
