Head over to Minneapolis Community & Technical College Library this Saturday, March 30th! The library is hosting "Publishing to the People," which is held in collaboration with the Minnesota Museum of American Art's exhibit "DIY Printing: Presses Not Required." They've got events going from 9-3, including zine cataloguing, zine making, button making, and a panel discussion with museum employees and librarians.
There's a Feminist Zine Reading at Bluestockings featuring our zine assistant Jordan Alam and our libary school intern Elvis Bakaitis! Both are prolific and excellent zinesters. Click for more for info and check out the Facebook Event.
Mark your calendars for October 18th! At 7:00 Barnard is having a reading and panel on trans women authors featuring Donna Ostrowsky, Imogen Binnie, Red Durkin, and Ryka Aoki! The event will celebrate the release of The Collection: Short Fiction from the Transgender Vanguard (Topside Press, 2012). The four authors will come together to read their work and discuss the future of literature, the complex ways that literary trans narratives will evolve in years to come, and their own stories of characters navigating relationships, gender, family, work, race, and more.

On August 18th, the fifth annual queer lit bookfair, Queer Between the Covers, is taking place in Montreal, as a part of the 10-day Montreal Pride program.
This conference on Thursday, April 5th at Parsons: The New School For Design will consider feminist art as a zone of multi-disciplinary art production associated with a radical critique of gendered power relations in society. Speakers include Susan Bee, A. K. Burns, Audrey Chan, Maureen Connor, Caitlin Rueter & Suzanne Stroebe and Ulrike Müller. Free admission!
Small Works for Big Change, the annual benefit event supporting the Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP), will be held at 6pm Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Jack Studios in New York. Now in its seventh year, this vibrant annual celebration reflects the radical spirit of SRLP and the experimental energy of some of New York’s most innovative contemporary artists, both established and emerging. 100% of the event’s proceeds will benefit SRLP’s advocacy work for transgender communities. The event is free and open to the public.
