Mark your calendars for October 18th! At 7:00 Barnard is having a reading and panel on trans women authors featuring Donna Ostrowsky, Imogen BinnieRed Durkin, and Ryka Aoki! The event will celebrate the release of The Collection: Short Fiction from the Transgender Vanguard (Topside Press, 2012). The four authors will come together to read their work and discuss the future of literature, the complex ways that literary trans narratives will evolve in years to come, and their own stories of characters navigating relationships, gender, family, work, race, and more.

On August 18th, the fifth annual queer lit bookfair, Queer Between the Covers, is taking place in Montreal, as a part of the 10-day Montreal Pride program.

The Pride Parade is this weekend! Whether you're enjoying the celebration or protesting the parade's unfair capitalist corporate sponsors, we've got a list of events that you'll be sure to enjoy.

The Anti-Racist Alliance is doing workshops on Undoing Racism in a city near you!

First: the background. I am a blogger for Refuse the Silence, an organization headed by the great Morgane Richardson and the people that hosted this event. And, because I am a huge nerd, I got giddy at the idea of seeing some of my favorite bloggers speak at this event about something I really care about: race in the feminist movement.

(The picture is of me and Latoya Peterson (editor of Racialicious) after the event! Don't we look chilled out?)
