Barnard College

Mark your calendars for October 18th! At 7:00 Barnard is having a reading and panel on trans women authors featuring Donna Ostrowsky, Imogen BinnieRed Durkin, and Ryka Aoki! The event will celebrate the release of The Collection: Short Fiction from the Transgender Vanguard (Topside Press, 2012). The four authors will come together to read their work and discuss the future of literature, the complex ways that literary trans narratives will evolve in years to come, and their own stories of characters navigating relationships, gender, family, work, race, and more.

Since its founding in 1889, Barnard has been a distinguished leader in higher education, offering a rigorous liberal arts foundation to young women whose curiosity, drive, and exuberance set them apart. Ours is a diverse intellectual community in a unique learning environment that provides the best of all worlds: small, intimate classes in a collaborative liberal arts setting dedicated to the advancement of women with the vast resources of Columbia University just steps away—in the heart of vibrant and electric New York City.

History Professor Robert McCaughey takes his students sailing along the Hudson River on Pete Seeger's Hudson River sloop Clearwater, bringing their coursework to life.
