Marissa Falco found out about zines from an article in Seventeen magazine in 1995 and has been making her own ever since. Her comics and zines explore dreams and daydreams, and document travel, mystery, and the magic of everyday events.
Past projects include Nothing zine and Red-Hooded Sweatshirt; her current zine series is Miss Sequential. Recent projects have included META, about the life and work of the artist Margaret Kilgallen; Inspirado, a discussion about art practice and process; and How to Be a Lady, an exploration of 80s music videos' influence on the writer's concept of gender and self. Marissa lives in Somerville, Massachusetts and is a 2013 recipient of a Somerville Arts Council artist fellowship grant.
The workshop will feature a riot grrrl soundtrack from WBAR's Girlylicious show hosted by Barnard Zine Club member Beth Tolmach.
